ATA Advocacy Results in CMS Medicare Proposal to Reimburse, Modernize, and Expand Telehealth Services

We are pleased the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released proposed rulemaking updating payments for services under Medicare Part B and home health with improvements that indicate major progress for telehealth and the digital health industry.

In its proposal, CMS included all of the codes that ATA proposed in December 2017 and June 2018.

Opportunities for Comment

All ATA advocacy efforts are sustained by our members. There are some key areas that warrant a thoughtful response and guidance from ATA members, particularly those related to requirements for established relationships with patients, verbal informed consents, and rate valuations for RPM and interprofessional codes.

Comments on CMS’ proposed rulemaking for the CY2019 Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule are due September 10, 2018.

Comments on CMS’ proposed rulemaking for the CY2019 Home Health PPS are due August 31, 2018.
